| Movie-Fiend May 17 04 - 7:48 PM | Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead GWB (aka Goof Without Brains) said this about the gay marriage brouhaha: "The sacred institution of marriage should not be redefined by a few activist judges." But that sacred institution has not been sullied by "Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire" or "The Bachelor" or a hundred other idiotic & desperate glory hounds huh Dubya? Bigot. Fiend |
lena May 17th 2004 - 8:09 PM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead as Reverend i just can't wait to wed first gay couple in NY |
GiGi May 17th 2004 - 8:31 PM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Good point Fiend! LOL What a crazy world. gigi |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 5:03 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Oh Fiend always so need and dear to my heart! The Dubya is doing so many things to separate our nation rather than unite and this is just one thing that's wrong with him. And not to offend the Christians this is what happens when you want to push "your" religion on others. Who are "you" to decide what's and what's wrong for others? If I'm not mistaken government does not have a place on this subject. Civil marriages should be just as binding and legal as religious marriages with all the benefits given to heterosexuals. |
| ponyexpress May 18th 2004 - 5:49 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead good one fiend!.......how bout GWB (gays won't behave) bush just can't get it his own way anymore the world is just too damn big! nobody is listening to the good ole boy from texas. he even said that this issue is URGENT! like the whole western world will fall apart if he doesn't stop those damn gays and their pretty little rainbow flags from gobbling up the institution of marriage! what the hell is the iraq prison scandal or the 9/11 commision hearings? silly little issues of no importance and with no urgency? give me a break! give us our beautiful country back ya damn hoodlum! pony :) |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 6:42 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Oh my God! I just realized how retarded I sounded in my last post on this topic! I meant: the federal government should not have to amend the constitution to ban gay marriage based on the beliefs of right-wing religious zealots not state governments! |
Donna May 18th 2004 - 7:34 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead I agree with Sun. It's almost like politicians want to redefine the meaning of freedom in USA. Freedom to them means feeling "free" to adhere to their beliefs--religious political etc. What a bunch of bull. Do you think that's the kind of Freedom that predisposed the founding of America? Seems to me that was what they were trying to get away from. (never mind that they too were guilty of the same bigotry when it came to Native Americans). Anyway where's the next frontier? (I say looking up...) Donna |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 9:07 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead i guess i'm the only one here against gay marriages. |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 9:07 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Why are you against it Paul? |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 9:20 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead i have never ever considered myself prejudice. i am here though. i remember a thread between michael and dana once where they talked about right and wrong and when to know the difference. i know that child molesting is wrong and so do you. it makes me sick to think about it. i know that beastiology is wrong and so do you (i'm sure the immatures will now make jokes). it makes me sick to think about that too. and i know that homosexuallity is wrong. it makes me sick to think about it as well. men were made for women and women were made for men. sorry but its my narrow minded opinion and i think i'll stick to it. |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 9:27 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Hey no problem. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - that's the beauty thing about this place. Whether I think it's wrong or not I still feel they should have the same rights as heterosexuals. I don't think they should be denied health insurance from their significant other because they can't get married. If one of them gets sick the other can't visit them in the hospital because they are not family members. Those are just a few of the reasons why I support it. |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 9:32 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Also they aren't hurting anyone like the pedophiles and sheep fuckers! |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 9:33 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead i'm sorry sun but i can't see agreeing with this perversion just because of health benefits and hospital visitations. |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 9:44 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Well I don't except to change your opinion here but certainly they do deserve to be treated as humans as perverted as it may seem to you (I don't need the visual either). More than anything else I don't like the government (federal government) getting mixed up in things like this and changing the constitution over it because it's based on religious beliefs not rational thought. |
lynda May 18th 2004 - 9:44 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Who are the sheep fuckers hurting? The sheep?... And Paul why do you (or anyone) have to agree with what others are doing. Is this a "free country" or not? I think not... although small victories are nice. Everytime I hear someone with that freedom retoric I just wonder who they are trying to convince... |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 9:51 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Yes Lynda they are hurting the sheep! Sick freaks! I can't imagine the sheep like it :( Disgusting. |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 9:53 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead sun i don't care what they do behind closed doors (i don't want to think about the visual either). however they are also seeking legislation for their "rights". i know you aren't going to change my mind and i won't change yours. BTW i know its beneath you to do the animal jokes. lynda i'm sorry but i did'nt understand anything about your post. |
| ponyexpress May 18th 2004 - 9:54 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead nobody says you have to agree with their sexual practices paul. they just want equal rights. just because you don't agree with it morally doesn't mean they are doing anything illegal. they just want benefits outside of the fact that they may or may not function differently than you in the bedroom. the bedroom has NOTHING to do with this! what difference should it make to you whether or not they burn in hell? they aren't making you do it. why should the "institution of marriage" be allowed to have a monopoly on these benefits? we don't allow other monopolies to run out of control do we? the government can clamp down on at&t and donald gates but they allow the "institution of marriage" to profess bigotry and practice exclusionary tactics with our money. what say you now good sir? pony :) |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 9:57 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead They are seeking the same rights as other married couples already enjoy - what's wrong with that? Besides the fact that some thinks it's perverted. They don't think it is. Why should we care? Nothing is being taken away from us just because they want something we already have. |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 9:59 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead pony besides this subject what personal act committed by somebody could be deemed morally wrong in your opinion? |
| ponyexpress May 18th 2004 - 10:01 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead paul NOTHING i make no earthly judgements! sorry....................... |
| Movie-Fiend May 18th 2004 - 10:03 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Excellent posts everybody. I should've got out of bed earlier and zipped on-line. See what you miss when you sleep late? ;) As for the gay life being perverted I don't think it's that big a deal if you or others feel that way Paul. What's alarming is when men in power try to make laws and change the way other people think love and believe. If you don't like homosexuality so be it. Just mind your business as they should mind theirs. So your views don't seem to be hurting anybody Paul. Dubya's views ARE hurting people. The pro- or anti- argument on gayness isn't even relevant to me. It always comes down to this: why do we care? Unless two men physically drag you into their bedroom and tape you to the chair you don't have to witness whatever they do with/to each other. That goes for them too...they don't have to watch a man and a woman go at it if it sickens them. So why do we care? And what a president! He gets riled up about steroids in baseball telemarketers and gay marriage (and of course terrorism) yet hardly has time for things that actually affect every person on this planet. If only I were American and I could vote for this compassionate conservative. I'd donate everything I have to help him get re-elected. What a role model! This is exactly the right man to rule a country that has spent more ink and TV time on the exploits of Bennifer than on serious shit that's killing people. My man Goerge fits in with that sort of belief system alright. Geez even writing a tongue-in-cheek paragraph to praise him makes me gag. I feel dirty. I feel like Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh. Eek I better go pray to Buddha or something and cleanse my everlovin' soul. :) Fiend |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 10:03 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead that's a huge cop out pony anything goes in your world huh? sun you asked me why i feel this way and i told you. |
lynda May 18th 2004 - 10:10 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead I guess Pony just said it better than I did can you understand him? I just don't see how we can inflict our personal beliefs on others. When in the end they are just our opinions. If this is coming from a religious standpoint then I'll say here that my issue with some religions is the extreme need (or percieved responsibility) to "save" others. There's too little love in this world why try to criminalize love that really can't hurt you anyway. If it really is wrong only the parties involved should worry about it. As Pony said they can't make you do it. |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 10:13 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead There was a time when interracial marriage was banned as well. How do you feel about that Paul? I assume you think it's alright because it's between a man and a woman? |
Donna May 18th 2004 - 10:15 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Ultimately wouldn't the world be a better place if we all stopped judging each other and became concerned with our own (sins shortcomings etc.) whatever you want to call them. What if we stopped worrying about who our neighbor was worshipping and started concentrating on our own spirituality and living a morally ethically responsible life and became accountable for ourselves? I know that's pretty much impossible given free-will and the presence of evil in the world but's it's an interesting proposition. Kindof like John Lennon's "Imagine"... Donna (#2) not from Kansas...guess I need to change my handle to avoid confusion. |
lynda May 18th 2004 - 10:22 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Yes Donna one of my favorite songs. Maybe it could replace the current national anthem. |
Donna May 18th 2004 - 10:24 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead I wonder if John saw 11's? Donna2 |
| ponyexpress May 18th 2004 - 10:56 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead no cop out here paul just plain common sense! do unto others as you would have them do to unto you. i find it impossible to make these judgements. i could judge you all day but it ain't gonna accomlish anything for you or for me. if you don't like something meet me at the voting booth. we can dule it out by pushing different buttons! that's about the best you're gonna get from me.................. luvyabig pony :) |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 11:09 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead like i said i guess i'm the only one here against gay marriages. |
Mark May 18th 2004 - 11:15 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead I'm from Netherlands so I have really no problem with gay people getting married. Why should it being gay comes natural it's not created by society. The fact that gay people want to get married speaks for them. Gay people also want a one partner relation just as straight people. Why should it be forbidden? Furthermore who knows how evolution will go for us humans. Maybe we are uni-sex in a couple of thousand years. Maybe we all have the same skin color and facial expressions. Maybe countries do not exist anymore we are inhabitants of earth. Maybe religion does not exist anymore or there is one religion for all. Maybe evolution takes care of “unsolvable” “problems” by itself. Dreamer Mark |
lynda May 18th 2004 - 11:18 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Mark I love it. Keep dreaming - Lynda |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 11:19 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead i'm laughing mark. i guess you are right evolution will take care of it. unless gay couples find a way to have children. |
Donna May 18th 2004 - 11:19 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Aughghhhh!! (read head banging against wall) Here's the deal I'm not "for" or "against" them. I'm saying it's not the right thing to do to sit in judgement against these people. Remember the OT request : "Judge not lest ye be judged?" Let him without sin cast the first stone. It's not appropriate for a government to dictate this part of people's live's if we want to continue calling ourselves a democracy. Donna2 |
Mark May 18th 2004 - 11:25 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Paul i'm laughing mark. i guess you are right,,,evolution will take care of it. unless, gay couples find a way to have children. Not only for gay couples; but in general: A new way to have childern. CLONING. That's were we have to raise our voice. This I call unnatural. Mark |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 11:26 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead My point as well Donna. Who is going to judge what is right or wrong - I hope it's not the fucking government when it comes to what goes on in MY bedroom! Or anyone else's! There used to be a day when nonmarried adults were breaking the law by having sexual relations as well - gees! Get over it! |
Donna May 18th 2004 - 11:28 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead yeah scary Donna |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 11:30 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Oral sex was also a big no no! I know a lot of guys who would have a problem with that these days - LOL!!!! |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 11:43 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead one last thing sun and then i'll leave. can you honestly say you would be happy if your son or daughter said they were gay? |
michael May 18th 2004 - 11:45 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead if i had a son and they said they were gay id get them to decorate the house. :) michael :) |
| Sungoddess11 May 18th 2004 - 11:46 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Oh don't leave Paul! It's a touchy subject but that's ok here :) I would not care if he was gay. I would rather that he wasn't (and I know he's not btw) but if he was I'd still love him just as much and make sure he was very careful of who he was intimate with. I know I may sound too "new age" on this but that is truly how I feel. |
| Paul May 18th 2004 - 11:46 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead touche michael. |
Donna2 May 18th 2004 - 11:50 AM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Michael (decorating the house)======LOL Always bringing levity to the group?! Donna |
| ponyexpress May 18th 2004 - 12:13 PM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead you don't have to be gay to decorate a house michael! metrosexuals are always left out of the mix. we don't have same sex relationships but we LOVE to decorate! what if it was the other way around? like a straight macho son who didn't approve of his damn homo or even metrosexual dad? acceptance is a two-way street right? my own 25 year old son thinks i'm a bit of a flake with all this spirituality and "feminine" stuff. but i know he loves me and that i mean the world to him. He also knows i can still kick his butt as well! luvyaz pastelpony :) |
Sara May 18th 2004 - 12:24 PM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Hello Paul and everyone... My daughter IS gay. It may not be the lifestyle/path I would choose for her but it is her path and I am behind her 110%. My daughter is the sweetest kindest most loving and caring person I know. I will defend her tooth and nail at any time at any place ;) If the "God" of your religion would condemn this beautiful soul to everlasting torment because of who she chooses to f*** then...there is no love in the world or "heaven." Sara |
| Movie-Fiend May 18th 2004 - 1:24 PM | Re: Maybe It's Time To Ban Bigotry Instead Michael way to chime in with a hilarious line to lighten up a serious thread! As for Lennon's "Imagine" that's a beautiful song but it's like so many other Beatles songs...it's more of an "if only" fantasy than 'The Wizard Of Oz'. Are there any gays on this site who want to say something about this discussion? After all you should be allowed to get married and suffer like the rest of society. ;) Fiend |
